There is Magic in that Silver

Posted by: Jewelry by Kat

Andree from Silver Workshop, Jewelry Designer.Let me introduce the creator of The Silver Workshop - Andree.

Her shop is filled with beautiful handmade silver jewellery.  Andree has been making silver jewlery for several years as a hobby.  Although she studied psychology, french studies and computer graphics and worked in the internet industry for twelve years; she has always been driven to do creative things by hand like painting, sculpting and crafting.  Spending alot of time on her jewelry, Andree has decided to become a jewelry arts student at George Brown College in Toronto.

Andree started her shop on icraft two years ago to display and sell her beautiful products. The jewelry you see in her shop come from her love of sculpting clay.  The discovery of art clay and precious metal clay led to sterling silver jewelry.

Silver Quartz Pendant - sterling and teardrop blue chalcedonySome of Andree's items are hand carved out of wax, then cast in sterling silver. Then a finish is created in satin or like Andree's rabbit necklace, a reflective high shine. The rabbit is one of Andrees favorite pieces because it combines the two things she loves the most - nature and sculpting.  Sculpting is her favorite thing to do.

Another technique Andree uses is oxidation, like this silver pendant.  The silver in this piece has a satin finish.  It has been oxidized to darken it and give it an antique look.  A beautiful piece.

With her studies at the college, it will be interesting to see how her jewelry's  'look' will be affected. We will all be looking forward to her new pieces.
