As a trained Financial Analyst, I have spent most of my adult life dealing with numbers, reports and analysis. But there has always been another side of me where my love of arts and crafts inspires my imagination and ignites my creativity.

I started experimenting with knitting and sewing out of necessity during my university years. I had a young family to support, with a little baby and no money. I constantly window-shopped, knowing full well I couldn't afford all the nice items tempting me. But that didn't stop me. I started knitting cute little outfits for my miracle baby, Christina. She inspired me to produce unique, one-of-a-kind clothes that made her look even more adorable than she already was. Even though she is now a young woman, she continues to be my biggest source of inspiration.

My crafts are very personal to me, and draw upon such intense processes that I can recall every single one of my creations from over the years. I can't compare myself to other artists who can produce hand-made items in a matter of hours or days. It's a much longer process for me since I reflect deeply on the conceptual design, the choice of fabrics and yarns, and new ways of designing pieces. I never really know what a finished product will look like. I start with one piece of the project (such as the yarn, pattern of colour), and build on that.

As I look back on life, I realize that there is no reason to wait to do the things you love. Now is the perfect time, because if you wait, you might never do it. When I work on my creative projects, I feel content and fulfilled. I spend most of my free time browsing the shops of Queen Street for new material and patterns, and visiting craft shows for design ideas. I draft all my creations in my sketch book, which I carry with me everywhere. You never know when inspiration will strike!
