Hi Admin!

I joined up today and am really excited about the opportunity, the site looks great and I cant wait to see what will happen when it is launched!

I just have a couple of suggestions/queries for you..

1) Seller stats - I saw mention somewhere regarding views, where will we be able to see this information and will we be able to have any other kind of stats available to us? Ie where is traffic coming from to our store, what time is the most traffic coming in etc etc. This would help sellers with the best time to list and what promotional areas are working the best for us

2) Will it ever be possible to put our whole store on hold? I would imagine there are several of us that do craft shows and it would be very time consuming to go through and put each individual item on hold (I plan to have a LOT lol!) when we are at a show so we dont double sell.

3) When replacementing for items, the currency automatically defaults to CAD. If a potential buyer misses this as an option to change (as I did when I went looking for my things) anyone NOT selling in CAD will miss out on opportunites. Is it possible for the default to be 'any currency'??

Thanks, sorry to be such a bossy boots on my first day but just a few things I thought of off the top of my head!

Hi Carla!
Thanks for joining! It's great to have you on board. Wonderful questions. Here are some answers that hopefully shed some light on what we're planning.

1) Seller Stats
Yes. In the coming months, we plan to have a "dashboard" feature which will allow each Creator to have visibility to their "Exhibit" page statistics. We're looking into which options are available for us, but here some of the stats we plan on investigating having:
- number of members and guests who view your products (we'll show who is online at the moment too)
- products which are most-clicked / viewed
- full site transaction information (sales history, etc.)

The two statistics below may be a little harder to gather, but we're looking into it:
- total time spent on "Exhibit" page(s)
- activity on page(s) per hour (i.e. daily activity)
The only information we can provide at this point on where your "Exhibit" traffic is coming from is within the site. We're investigating if it's possible to get traffic information when it comes externally from iCraftGifts.com. We'll keep everyone posted on this.

2) Store Holds
Great suggestion! This is something we're looking into, and plan to develop. We're thinking it would be great to be able to put the store "on hold" but still have your page(s) present with a "be right back" type message that each Creator can customize. That way, if people have your page bookmarked, they can see that you're still active, just away at a show, festival, etc. It would be the responsibility of each Creator to update their "on hold" message. Please note that we don't count "On Hold" products when we charge the subscription fee. And since your Creator Exhibit page will be "on Hold", all your products will be "On Hold" and will be removed from the site ("removed" in the sense people can't see it - you will be the only one who can).

3) Currency
Thanks for the catch. Yes, we will change the default currency on the "Browse Products" page to be "Any".

Once again, thanks for the feedback! If you have any other questions or comments, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Hi Admin,

I have placed a banner (done by me) with the logo of icarft.ca and with the link to my virtual shop, in my blog www.femmedetails.com, you can check it.
I suggest to that you could provide this tools (image / code html) so that the creators can advertise.

Good News Everyone!

Emma, your suggestion was a great one, and we have now introduced a "Resource Room" with banners / images Creators can use for promotional purposes. We will add more as time goes on. Have a peak, and let us know your thoughts!

First of all, I'd suggest to provide a link or a button back from an artist's page. Then, it would be better I think to sort artist's list by location considering not a city, but a country, then state/province, and then a city. It would be great to paginate creator's list and provide replacement, at least by media. That's just the first look... Oh, forgot! Signature for posts!

Hi Zoya,
Just a quick update to let you know that pagination on the Creator List page (https://icraftgifts.com/profiles.php) has been added. Filters by geographic location, signatures for posts, etc. will be added soon. Thanks for the great ideas, and keep them coming!

Thanks! And some more:
1. Thumbnails are cut off at the bottom (should be fixed);
2. Return Policy - I'd add "Store Credit" option;
3. Payment Methods - I'd add "Credit Cards" (I don't accept PayPal, but accept a lot of credit cards in my store)

Thank you!

Hi Zoya,

Thanks for great suggestions! Please see my comments below.

1. Thumbnails
Since product images come in all shapes and sizes, we had to find a way to standardize how we display them on the page. For consistency, all product images are automatically resized and cropped at the bottom for rectangular thumbnails. Unfortunately, there is no way around it, other than cutting them off from the center.

2. "Store Credit" option
Yes, great idea, we'll definitely add that.

3. Payments with Credit Cards
Unfortunately, we can't process credit cards on your behalf. Financial Institutions simply don’t allow that, as it’s considered a high risk transaction.

The only way for your customers to pay you with their credit card is by using PayPal. To accept all payment types, including credit cards through PayPal, you are required to register for a Business PayPal Account. https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_registration-run
It is a preferred online payment method and it's free. Your buyers will not be required to register for PayPal in order to pay you with their Credit Card.

As I understand, you don't really like PayPal and you already have your own store where you accept payments with credit cards. In your case, you should probably use our "Buy Direct" feature. In fact, that's the reason why we introduced it on our site - so people like yourself, could list products with us, but collect payments on their own eCommerce sites. Read more about this new feature here #page has been deleted#
Hope this helps.

My images are 600x600, they are rectangular. If you resize images proportionally, there is no need to crop them. It appears, that you do something wrong with resizing. The width of thumbnails is 165px, so the height should be also 165px, but it is much less! thumbnails are not rectangular! It should be fixed. Smiley

I use "Buy Direct" feature, but what do I have to do with payment options on this site when creating my profile? Leave it blank? That's not right. Before going to my site a customer is supposed to know my payment options. Am I right? Smiley

Some more suggestions:

1. Subcategory "Necklaces, chokers" - but chockers are also necklaces,  the shortest ones! Smiley

2. The serach result order is random (probably items are ordered by date), that's very strange. And there is no ability to reorder replacement results! Customers have to have this option, I think.

Hi Zoya,
Thanks for your ideas. Here is some further information. Have a read, and let us know if you have any additional questions / comments by sending a note to Support@iCraftGifts.com. We'll then be able to go into further detail for you, if necessary. Thanks so much!

Thumbnails:
Unfortunately, resizing the images proportionally doesn't work for every image uploaded by various Creators, and the current page templates. For consistency, all product images are automatically resized and cropped at the bottom for rectangular thumbnails. We find that this method works best for every image submitted and keeps products looking their best on pages. If you need further clarification, please send us a note at Support@iCraftGifts.com.

Buy Direct:
We are investigating your question further. We'll have a response soon!

Subcategory "Necklaces, chokers"
We are attempting to keep each category as broad as possible, so as to attract a variety of Creators.

Search Results
As our website grows and develops, so will our functionality, including our Search feature. As new products are added within each category, we will display the newest items first. All new products will be ranked at the top, and have red text calling out JUST LISTED for its first 24 hours on the site. This gives new Creators a chance to be in the spotlight and have their creations seen. Also, sorting by date encourages our Creators to keep submitting new products, and earn them prominent replacement placement. Additionally, we plan to add the number of items on the replacement page for each category and sub-category, and will remove replacement results which have zero / empty listings.

In this case I would write: "Necklaces, chokers, lariats, operas, princesses, matinees, ropes, collars, y-shape necklaces and so on..." I'm kidding... Smiley

I think I posted this in the wrong place earlier, sorry if you read it twice!

It would be very convenient to have a permanent link back to our main gallery page (unless I've missed something and it's been there all along!). Something like 'Your Gallery' in the top toolbar alongside My Account/Wish List/ Help.

Also in the Photography categories could we have a Holga and Through the Viewfinder added, they are both very popular types of photography at the moment.

I shipping options, an option for the EU would save a lot of work, I don't know about posting from other countries, but if you are posting from within the EU to another EU country the postage rates are the same.

I hope these haven't been mentioned too many times already!

We agree too! Right now, we change the featured products every couple of days. We want to make sure that as many Creators as possible are featured - we also want to ensure that once they're on there, they have a bit of time to indulge in the spotlight Smiley

I notice when you click on the Creators list the default is alphabetically...great for the A's not so good for anyone way down on the alphabet. Maybe it would be 'fairer' to have it default to something else?

like 'recently updated' might be a good one, that way it keeps the creators listing new items...?

Hi Brenda,
That is a fantastic point. Thank you for the suggestion!

Update: I just had a chat with our dev. team - We are actually already working on this feature. New Creators to the site will be listed first, followed by Recently-Updated Creators.

We'll let everyone know once this sort-function goes live. Smiley

Just a quick update to let everyone know we’ve made the above-mentioned sorting changes on Creator Exhibits and the Product Search Results pages.

All new and updated Creator Exhibits are now pushed to the top of the "Creator" page listings. This means those who update their Exhibits often will get more visibility on the site when someone clicks the "Creators" tab:  https://icraftgifts.com/profiles.php

Also products on individual Creator Exhibits are sorted in the same way – New, then Updated products are displayed at the top. Both New and Updated listings are counted as such for 48 hours. Everything else is then displayed based on the date the product was last updated or submitted with newest changes at the top.

Thanks all, and Happy Crafting!

In the "view all products" section, I would love to see a unique page view counter on the listings.  That would make it easier to see how many views each item is getting.  As of right now, I would have to click on each product in my store individually to get that info.

I'm not sure if that is possible, but it would be handy.  Smiley

Any chance of adding additional currencies?

I am in Australia so AUD would be handy - otherwise I will have to revise my prices regularly with the fluctuating conversion rates.

I would love it if when you replacemented for items the creator's name showed along with the item name, price, and thumbnail.  It would be nice to see who created an item without having to click on the item to be redirected to their creator exhibit.   Smiley

I was wondering if there could be an expanded area (not in the main profile on a creator's front page) where one could list more details about general shop payment and shipping policies. I don't see any other area to list these except on the front page or on each item's page. This gets too long and distracting if on the front page, and cumbersome to add to each item. It would be helpful to have a link available from the profile to the shop's shipping and payment information. Thank you!

Is there a way to quickly select all items in your exhibit and put them on hold or make them live?

I am off to a show tomorrow and couldn't see a way to select them unless I wanted to delete them.  So, I went into each item and changed it from live to on hold.

It is great to be able to select single items to put on hold, but it would useful if this could be done with the whole shop too.

Thanks

Yes, there is a way to put all items on hold. Go to "My Profile" and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Change field "Status" to "On Hold". Your Creator Exhibit URL will still work, but there will be no products listed on that page. It's a good idea to update the message on your Creator Exhibit when you put it on hold, so your customers know that you are coming back.
