Beautiful ceramic pendant necklace I created from high fire clay in which I carved the ancient Taino stone petroglyph for the snail or water symbol, one of many petroglyphs found on the island of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean.
This clay pendant was hand-formed, dried and carved then fired, glazed and fired once again.
The pendant measures 1-1/4" long by 1-1/8" wide by 3/16" thick (33mm x 25mm x 3mm) and has been strung onto an adjustable 1.5mm leather cord.
**Only once creation like this exists, what you see in the photos is exactly what you will receive. Colour may vary from PC monitor to smartphone screen.**
The Ta?要os, whose name literally translates to "good people", were the seafaring people indigenous to the Bahamas, Greater Antilles, and the northern Lesser Antilles. The Ta?要os were considered one of the Arawak peoples of South America, and their language was a member of the Arawakan family of language in the northern areas of South America. At the time of European contact in the late 15th century, they were the principal inhabitants of most of Cuba, Trinidad, Jamaica, Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic), and Puerto Rico. When Christopher Columbus arrived to the New World in 1492, he became one of the first (and only) outsiders to witness the Ta?要o culture.
