It just struck me today that there is no Search function on the front page. There's a wonderful advanced search on the Browse page, but I wouldn't really think to Search under Browse. I know there is also a "Ways to Search for Products" at the bottom of the front page, but that sends you to Browse.

Would it be possible to have a Search function at the top of the front page. It would be great if the user could put in his/her own key words for the search. (Or perhaps you could rename the "Browse products" tab, "Search and Browse."

If I've completely missed this option (certainly a possibility at this time of day), please let me know.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Leanne,

Yes, you are right, you have to use "Browse" tab at the moment to perform search. There is no separate "Keyword Search" anywhere. Good catch!

We initially reserved a spot at the top left corner on the second (denim) bar for our "Keywords" Search, but since nobody seemed to miss it, it was put off for the time being. We are still planning to introduce it at some point.

Funny, that you've mentioned renaming "Browse Products" section as well. We thought of that too. One of the ideas was to rename that section into "Find Products" or "Buy Products" and split it into a few pages, like "Browse Categories", "Search Products", "New Arrivals", "Just Updated", "Sale Items", "Shop by Color", "Shop Local" etc. to make it easier for buyers to shop on our site.

Anyway, that's what has been discussed. Feel free to provide your comments and feedback. Thanks!

I'm so glad these things are "on your plate."

I would love to see a Search field in the upper left corner. I probably never noticed it before because I like to browse, but I imagine a lot of buyers would have something in mind that they would like to search for.

I also like your idea of Find Products, but Buy Products would not make me think of searching.

Anything that would provide the buyer with a quick and easy way to Search would be great!

Thanks!

I would also like to see a search option.  It is much more difficult to find what I am looking for without it.  It also makes the tags that I put into my item information irrelevant as people cannot search.  In some categories where there are lots of items, like jewelry, it just isn't very user-friendly to have to browse through everything.

Hi Jewelry Without Borders,

Your post is not entirely correct. We do have "Search" feature, including a Keyword Search on this page https://icraftgifts.com/products_search.php So your tags are absolutely needed and used when someone performs a Keyword Search, not to mention external Search engines rely on them as well.
However, we recognize a need for a simple one box Keyword Search that would be present at all times at the top. Our current Search is what you usually call an Advanced Search, which is, in effect, more powerful than a Keyword Search.
And, yes, we'll be looking for ways to make shopping experience easier. We already started with the Homepage. It is now geared toward buyers. We'll be evaluating and making changes on other sections of the site as well. So stay tuned!

I've always used the "Browse products" to search for item, so I'm not sure I'd need or use a separate "search" box. You can use keywords in the browse section.

That being said, is there a way to search sellers? When you click on "Creators", you get a list of the newest seller, but there's no way to search for the actual shop name, is there? Or search by sellers from a certain country?

Thanks,

Thanks for the clarification Admin.  I guess I'm just in the habit of searching for things starting on a home page that I missed this.  It's good to know it's there.   Smiley
