Good morning Smiley

Here's what I've got for today:

1)Follow 50 of these potential customers on Twitter. - Done!

2)Send at least 3 Tweets today about you or your own stuff. - Done!

3)Got to 3 other bootcampers sites and send 3 tweets about something remarkable about their stuff.

I tried to select a variety of pieces to Tweet about, so these are the 3 bootcampers that I promoted this morning on my Twitter:

Petrified Wood Necklace by Jewelry Without Borders

Barn Yard Tags by Mostly Sundays

Country Cutie Goat's Milk Soap by neatTreats

4)List one new item on icraft or refresh a listing. - Listed a new item, Done!

5)Free Local advertising on google Here is where you can get yourself on the map in your community.

Ok, here I have to say that I have a problem with this, as it's a matter of 'SAFETY'. It sounds like you have a B&M store? That's awesome and good for you if you can advertise your physical address.

However, for those of us who only have our home, it is *not* advisable to list your home address EVER if you run a small business from your home (especially for jewelry makers). I have easily well over $15,000 in gemstones and precious metals in inventory, never mind the thousands of dollars in tools as well (I'm a metalsmith & lampwork artist) so listing your own home address anywhere online is inviting trouble.

It is simply not safe in this day and age. Home invasions, theft, etc, are rampant everywhere. It's very unfortunate, but unless these sites allow us to list just a weblink and an email address, I'm not willing to put that info online.

I tried to list my business on the Google page you gave us, and they make it mandatory to fill-in the address field complete with postal code and phone number. I don't even put that information on my business card or on the envelopes that I use to ship out my orders (I use our commercial mail box address/PO Box address on my return labels).

So I would really advise against this unless a person has a commercial 'real' Brick & Mortar shop.

6) Optional Download Hubspot whitepaper on marketing - Going to download it now Smiley

Have a super day!

Hey  CanadianRockiesArt...
I totally agree with your comment...

"It is simply not safe in this day and age. Home invasions, theft, etc, are rampant everywhere. It's very unfortunate, but unless these sites allow us to list just a weblink and an email address, I'm not willing to put that info online. "

Thank you for raising the point. I don't put my address down either.  On that map you can move the balloon around.  I just put My community name down BC Canada and use the postal code for the post office. I don't use any of my private numbers either...cell. Anyone looking for me from a Google map can leave a message.

I am so impressed that you have so much done so early!

Cheers

Nathalie, thanks for tweeting about my necklace!  What a pleasant surprise!

I'm behind already, was working on yesterday's and Friday's assignment.  I'll have to catch up on today's assignment tomorrow.  I always love checking out other people's shops to find great items, so it should be fun.  Plus I will feel more comfortable tweeting about someone else's items before I start tweeting about my own.

Still trying hard to like twitter.  Would not try if it wasn't for bootcamp.

Oh, and when I went to load a personalized twitter background with photos, it would have cost $5.  Would that $5 have allowed me to change it in future?  It didn't seem like it would.  I went with a pre-made one instead since I'm not yet convinced twitter will win my love...

OMG, the item Nathalie tweeted about has a much larger number of views than it had yesterday (don't know exactly how much, wasn't paying that much attention), but maybe 30 to 60 more...  Wow!  People actually went and looked...

Oh wow! They started charging for it now! It was free just a couple of days ago. Guess they were running a special to get some users to put it up on their twitter pages, and now they are charging for it.

Sorry you didn't get in when it was still free. I just checked and you're right, they are charging for it now.

I am so behind in my SBC homework. I have done a few things.
I just want to caution everyone regarding directories.  I have discovered some directories are useless.  Out of curiosity, I clicked on a few shops under different categories in some directories and found that "website links of products and stores" goes nowhere. (It says try google).  So before you share your information make sure the directories are valid and some require payment to be on their directories.

Word of caution: visit a few websites on that directory before you register with them.

What I did today:

Made several topic replacementes(handmade, jewelry and crafters) on Twitter for people I'd like to follow. My inbox was loaded with over 100 people following me because I'm following them!

Tweeted 4 items in iCraft shops Trish's card,PillowThrowDecor's Geek Pillow and Brilliant Bead's Lampwork Beads and FiveForty's Spiral Waves Earrings.

Relisted 3 bracelets which were retweeted Thank you!

I too am a little concerned about giving my address out so passed on the local advertising with Google.

I will be checking out the HubSpot after I leave here.

Can't wait to see what you have in the works for tomorrow!

Hey Debra... you don't have to give out an address.... you just move that little map over your community and plunk it down.  I don't use my home address either.  I often just give my city and the post office address or postal code.

Debra you have an impressive list of accomplishments today!!!!
