Google Analytics

[iCraft Admin]

We are about to release Google Analytics function. In preparation for this, I'd like to ask everyone to register their iCraft Exhibit URL on Google Analytics.

Here is how you can do it:

1. Go to http://google.com/analytics and sign up for an account or log into your existing account.
2. If you have an account with them, click on "Add New Website Profile". In the URL area and enter your iCraft URL like icraftgifts.com/vintage_inspired_jewelry or icraftgifts.com/beaumonde.

3. Skip the "Tracking Code" page by scrolling down and clicking the "finish" button and proceed to the next page.

4. On the next page you should be able to see your Profile ID.
It will look something like this UA-2622771-9.

That's it for now. I'll provide you with more instructions in a few days.
All you need to do is to have that Profile ID handy. Thanks!

This is great!  GA will allow us to see where our traffic originates from, when we have the most traffic in our shops and more.  With the recent initiatives with Bootcamp and the free ads that crafters have been posting, GA will allow us to see what is most effective.

OK, here is a new page for checking your "Web Stats" using Google Analytics https://icraftgifts.com/member_google_analytics.php

Please enter your Google Profile ID there and see if you start seeing data in your  Google Analytics account.

Give it a few hours. Google doesn't serve stats in real time, but we'll start passing your data to them as soon as you enter your ID.

After you install GA, you may want to set it up so that it doesn't count your own visits in your stats.  You can do that by excluding your IP address.

You can find your IP address by going to this website:
http://whatismyipaddress.com/

The number it gives you needs to be added into your GA account.  

When you first visit GA, it will show your website profile.  The box on the far right is called Actions.  In the one for your icraft store, click on "edit".

That will bring you to a screen called "profile settings".  The third box is called "filters applied to profile"  In that box, click "edit".  

This brings you to a screen where you can chose your filter type.  In the middle section, you have a drop down menu where you should select "exclude all traffic from an IP address".  Then in the box at the bottom you can enter your IP address.  When you enter your IP address, you need to add \ before the .
So if your IP address is 120.112.222.333 you would enter 120\.112\.222\.333

This should allow you to exclude your own visits from your stats.

Okay, I'm in!  I already had a GA account and it takes 24 hours to see your stats, in case you're wondering where your stats are.  They provide you with a lot of information.....I just wish I understood it better :{
