Day 5 Icraft Bootcamp Assignment

So far we have done...

Day 1  Personal  bio

Day 2  Professional interview

Day 3 Business cards /printed marketing material and done signature lines on our emails

Day 4 Listed new item, tweeted and thought about what makes our product so special… keep thinking on this as we will deal with it on Friday.

Today is all about Twitter, although it is not good manners for newbies to jump in and peddle their wares before establishing relationships.  There are enough of us that have been on Twitter awhile now and we can do some of the promoting for you until you build your following.

1.    Open twitter account with a name that is consistant with your BRAND… My Twitter name is PillowThrowDeco… there is no “r” because shop name is too long.

2.   Follow people… who to follow??? Go to my list of followers or GaleriaLinda or any other Bootcamper ‘s twitter list and click on some of their followers that look interesting (probably a lot of Artisans and Handmade keeners) and are likely to be interested in you or your  product. Don’t exceed more than say  100 - 200 a day which is more than enough.  You will find only about 10% of these people will follow you within the next 24 hours. Don’t worry about those that don’t right now as you will dump them in the next 3 or 4 days.

3.   Make sure you put your icraft site as a link in your profile, where you are from, and what you are interested in. Practice sending one or a few tweets.

4.   Go to  http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/ to download this free program that will help you soooo much in seeing what is going on, when people send you a message or even mention you.  I am giving you the abbreviated discussion about all of this because I want to accelerate your participation on Twitter through one of the easiest Twitter tools out there.

For ADVANCED Twitterers  here are your tasks for today.

1 Send at least 10 tweets or retweets on fellow Bootcamper products in addition to your usual tweets. Use #icraft or #handmade hashtag where possible.

2 Make a list and one or two points about any Twitter programs you use (like Hootsuite, Tweetadder, etc) and post in “What Happened thread” so we can all discuss them.

3 Very briefly describe your Twitter strategy. what has worked and what hasn't.

I signed up for Twitter in the summer...not b/c I wanted to but b/c I thought I should/had to.I have been resisting TweetDeck until now...you have convinced me.
Am downloading it now.
I like the IDEA of Twitter and how it can help...I am resenting the time I spend at the computer these days.
If feels like one more thing to "do" and keep track of etc.

Twitter can be a big time suck.

But since twitter I eliminated a lot of other useless activities... also watching TV.

Sorry.  I don't social network (facebook, myspace, twitter) and will not convert.  I do blogs only.  Skipping day 5.  Feel free to leave me out of tweets because I will never tweet back!

Hey Ensorcelled Minds!
We'll still tweet your products, but you can write about us in your blog. Deal? Smiley
I like Twitter, but don't blog... yet.
I think that's the whole point of having a support group like Bootcamp - we help each other any way we can, using the tools we like and know how to use.

My propositional benefits:

Uniqueness - All my jewelry desings are one of a kind contemporary pieces that I brand myself.

Exclusiveness - I create at least 90% of the components used in my jewelry designs. These components can not be purchased by other makers.

Crafting - I am a self represented glass artist. I design and handcraft each jewelry piece myself. My jewelry designs combine glass, wire work and other artisan techniques - they can not easily be reproduced (even by myself!!).

Let's now put this all together and work on an add:)

LOL... We won't try and convert you Smiley

Good for you in being a regular blogger. I think blogging is one of the most effective ways of getting a meaningful messages out there but most people don't feel proficient at writing and then there are those of us (like me) that is find it difficult to regularly write.

I like Craft Boutique's suggestion.  We'll do tweeting for you.

Cheers
