If we keep putting our links in our forum posts does that help with SEO?

Also, does google replacement the tags or is that just for iCraft's internal replacement?

Does google replacement the product titles and descriptions?

Hi Christine,

Generally speaking, placing links to your store everywhere is a good idea. There will be more chances that your name will be picked up by Search Engines. You just need to make sure you don’t overdo it. I see sometimes messages on the Forums with one word responses and ridiculously long list of URLs that follows.

Linda, yes, Google robots will crawl and index all page copy, including our tags. What’s good about tags is that those tags are now links. Google Robots find pages through finding links, which means more pages will be crawled.

Here is a link where you can get basic understanding of how Google works.

Here is a good tool from Google to rereplacement popular keywords to include in your listings.

Hope this helps!

OOOOoo I did not connect the tags being links with google replacement. I knew links were replacemented but did not connect the dots here.

All the more reason for tags to be absolutely descriptive.

Thanks!

Thanks for the tip admin re: adwords and trends in Google... I learned I should get busy and make leather pillows and kids pillows  Smiley

Question today is about links and backlinks... not sure I understand what a backlink is.  It is probably so simple I look stupid but can you please give me some examples.

Thanks

Backlinks are incoming links to any website or a web page.
They indicate the popularity and the importance of any given website, and have a direct impact on site's ranking.
For example, the more sites, blogs, forums etc. link to your iCraftGifts.com Exhibit, the more traffic your page will attract from Google.

So it is a reciprocal deal?  You link to mine and I'll link to yours?

No. It doesn’t have to be reciprocal links. As long as they link to you - your ranking goes up. Smiley

Also, speaking of backlinks, it is important to consider where you place your links.

Popular sites have a lot of traffic, giving you more chances that a lot of people will notice your links. However, for people to click on your links, they have to be somewhat relevant to what people on that site are replacementing for. In other words, don't place links to your jewelry store on the site that appeals to golfers, even if that site has crazy traffic. It’s unlikely that those links will bring you high traffic.

Have a look at the pageview on this product page. https://icraftgifts.com/handmade/4845/cthulhu-amigurumi-pattern-to-crochet.php (scroll down to the bottom)

This item was originally submitted to Stumbleupon (you can do it using our "Sharing" tools), then probably picked up and favoured by many users interested in that type of product, and, eventually, promoted by Stumbleupon. In the matter of hours, pageviews on that page spiked significantly.

So what made this product popular, compared to many other products submitted to Stumbleupon on the same day?
It's possible that this product was submitted with a very good review, catchy keywords, placed in a popular category by the user with a lot of connections on that particular site. It’s even possible that this product submission coincided with something else, like a discussion involving patterns or amigurumi on Stumbleupon. Who knows? The fact is many people at that particular time had interest in this topic and were happy to click on product link and even share it with others.

What I am trying to say is that having a lot of backlinks to your page will certainly help, but will not always guarantee high traffic or high rankings.
