A Spring Clean in more ways than one???

Hi all!

I had a biiiig spring clean this week, got rid of half of my clothes in my wardrobe! Made me feel SO good. I realised with this recession that I really CAN live without constantly buying new stuff (this is a pretty bold statement coming from a self confessed fashion victim)! I feel good about capsule living.

Also been watching the G20 speeches and discussions on TV, and all the hope that seems to be stemming from it...which got me thinking - although we're a long way from this being over - can we take anything from what has occurred in this recession - before we return to being a consumer driven society again (and i say this in the loooooosest sense)?

Hi  Cheesy

I think it may be a bit early yet for some people who are really struggling right now to see the good in the situation.

What I hope that people learn is to live not within, but below their means. Some of the families I know that are really struggling had 10 or more credit cards, and a few lines of credit all maxed out when they lost their jobs. If you are already behind financially then something like this happens it is very hard to recover.

I really hope that once the recession is over that people remember that desperate feeling of being out of control financially and take every step to never get there again. I mean this in the nicest way, it is hard to see people you care about struggling.

I know it has been so hard for many...and the situations you mention sound terrible, i'm so sorry to hear that. I REALLY hope they are able to receover - especially the families you mention.

But I think this hope ideology that Obama had been peddling in his campaign is maybe what is needed...for purely that - hope. I was overjoyed yesterday to see that his way of thinking had seemed to spill over into the G20 talks and ALL the countries embraced his empathic way of looking at situations. Yay Obama!
