I want to say first that the video was great, nice music and layout.. but after thinking about it, I am a little disappointed and maybe it's partly my fault- that my 'clip' was really little.. I might not be a power seller, but I am top 20 and I post often enough. Some of the sellers that were featured on the whole page are not posters on the forums as of recently- as long as I have been here- so if you are trying to attract people here by showing the popular brands, well, I'm not sure if I agree with that. Maybe it's just me..

Hi PetiteTuques,

We tried to show a variety of products from different categories. This is our first video and it's just a start. We are also going to interview crafters and showcase various products through our YouTube channel. We are definetely going to promote iCraft supporters, so don't think we are not interested in promoting active members. We are!
Since you are outside Toronto, feel free to submit your own video, showcasing your products or telling others your story, and we'll add it to our channel.
Also, Diane from dCipollo Designs, always looking for people to interview for our Blog. I am sure she'd love to chat with you and feature you in the next Spotlight article. I suggest you connect with her. Here is her latest interview with Federikas - https://icraftgifts.com/blog/federikas-in-the-spotlight-205.php

I liked the video and the music.  I did think it was kind of long though and it seemed like some of the clips started moving faster to fit it all in.

I do think an excellent range of products were showcased.  I also was pleased to see some really nice stuff I had no idea was lurking on this marketplace.

I'd just say, shorten it a tad (perhaps 3-3.5 minutes max).  I did like that it was breadth over depth, and I did like the snippets of depth in each section.  It's a good opener for some more focused future videos!

Thanks Fairy Cardmaker!

Yes, we realized it was too long, but after the fact. It was hard to cut back on the number of products that we wanted in the video. They were all good, so picking one product over the other was a challenge.
We also have a pretty long interview with Carolyn from Qute Wear coming out soon..
Anyway, lessons learned and we'll try to improve with each new video, so stay tuned! Smiley

Oh, and please subscribe to our YouTube channel. We'll subscribe back!  Wink

Take a look at our second video - an interview with Carolyn Pham from Qute Wear - https://icraftgifts.com/blog/interview-with-carolyn-pham-from-qute-wear-209.php

We'd love to interview as many artists and crafters as we can. If you are in Toronto or near Toronto, please let us know if you'd be ok with us recording an interview and we'll arrange a meeting with you. If you are outside Toronto, please submit us your videos and we'll add them to our channel. Thanks!

Thanks for the helpful discussion Fairy Cardmaker and PetitesTouques. We're building out a format for the structure of interviews. I'll start a thread to house the conversation. I think we can end up putting some pretty slick videos together to showcase our fantastic members.

I'd be very interested in hearing your feedback. There's great opportunity for iCraft to showcase anyone who contributes to these initiatives. It's time to shine in the spotlight Smiley

Some feedback on the interview:

I'd like the interviewer to read the question aloud.  I do like that it comes on the screen by itself because it helps separate the segments, but I'd like it read.  Why?  because then I could "show" this video to the visually impaired and they would understand the entire conversation if the question was spoken aloud.

Sorry for being a grammar snob, but one question is "Do you have an advise to others who sell online?".  I think it should read, "Do you have any advice..." or you can even take the word any right out, but it is definitely "advice" not "advise".  Advice is the noun, advise is the verb.

Overall, the questions encompassed a lot of sides of the business and the product.  In fact, the product part could have been a little larger - like what's your favourite thing about it or what do you love most about your craft.  As creators, I think we have a little connection to our creations and we sort of imagine what they are doing or where they are or how they are received and/or perceived out in the world.  So, I sometimes wonder if the customers see what I see in them.  I'd like to hear how other creators perceive their own product.

I would have loved a little studio tour.  Studio tours get A LOT of traffic, I find.  (Or, perhaps, there could be studio tours as separate videos in the future!)

I think it was a nice interview and kudos to Carolyn for being brave enough to be filmed!  The video was clear and easy to understand.  Carolyn seemed relaxed and not pressured or hurried.  Thanks for sharing!

(And after all that grammar blurb, I can't even find a spell check in here! lol)

Thanks for the feedback! We honestly appreciate hearing all types - good and bad Smiley

I'm putting together a script outline for the Q&A section. I'll circulate it on the forum for everyone's ideas. What are other great ways to showcase the great talent we have in our community?
