Today was the last straw. I realized that to ship a package 4 x 4 x 4 weighing 7 ounces down East would be $12.72. This for a product that costs $5.50. Before you say, if you do that you exclude a large percentage of the market, ask yourself, would you pay $12.72 shipping for a $5.50 product? The answer is clearly no.
I currently have the price listed at $9.50 for shipping in Canada, and at that price I'd still have to absorb over $3.00 of the cost. I think that by having that price in there, even though it states it's for Canada, acts as a deterent for the whole shop. If I was a U.S. buyer and I saw that $9.50 shipping I might click off before I even realized that it applied to Canada only.
Almost all of my sales on my other site are to the U.S. and International markets, so I don't really see this as a huge loss, but just so you know, I even tried pricing it to North York, and I'm shipping from Etobicoke, and it was still $7.77. Heck I'd be better driving the product to their home!
I hate to do this, but I really don't see an alternative.
