Handmade Store: Diana Norman

If you ever happen to be in northern New York and see an exotic-looking, dark-haired girl scribbling frantically into a notebook -- it's probably me. Come over and say hello! I love to create, and inspiration comes from everywhere. I've found it's always a good idea to be prepared.

I'm a traditional and digital artist, a jewelry and graphic designer, and finally a web programmer. My designs capture a part of me and my life experiences of being a curious crafter starting at a very young age.

I was born in South Korea, but I grew up in the heart of Amish Country, Pennsylvania. Many of my creations were first inspired by oriental design; later, my inspiration came from local workmanship. My family lived within walking distance of many antique stores and many third (sometimes higher) generation craftspeople. I've always found interest in the techniques used in the crafts I've seen, from origami and knot work to quilting and wood finishing. My work is a culmination of time-honored techniques, vintage items, new ideas, and materials that range from traditional to high-tech.
