I have been retired longer than I want to admit. Brought up during the depression, if you needed clothes you made them. Also, you figured out how to make many things, like crochet, knitting and painting. Easy to became craft obsessive. My husband and I had a ballroom dance business for many years. We brought up three children and have five grandchildren now. Back to crafting. Continuing to do crafts we would do shows on weekends. As creative as you try to be people would copy so then my choice was to work with beads and make jewelry. Still trying to be creative and different and after many years of creating bead work, it materialized into working with craft wire and incorporating beads. When I had enough courage to feel I was capable of working with better material, 14K gold filled and Sterling Silver wire became the choice of material. Taking a course to learn how to sculpt wire with cabochons and faceted stones was the way to go. It was an expensive proposition, but to do something right it had to be. Right now this is my passion. Each piece is one of a kind so it excites me to see how each piece is going to turn out. The wire has a mind of it’s own. My work is carried in some high end stores and the fact that it is appreciated helps me to continue. As of now I am sculpting some stones that a customer sent to me to wrap. Wrapping a beautiful large amethyst for her and seeing her get many compliments pleases me. It is a nice thing to have returning customers. My advise to all the young people: Don’t give up on your dreams. Keep to your goals. Set your sights high. They will come true. Don’t let the bad times get you down. Just hiccups in your way.
