Beautiful reproduction of an ancient petroglyph from the Checta archaeological site located in Canta Lima, Peru that I created from high fire clay.
I formed this clay pendant, carved the ancient petroglyph then fired it for several hours in the kiln. I then glazed the pendant and back again in the kiln for another long firing.
Threaded onto a strong 2mm black Hemp cord. The pendant measures 1-3/4" long by 1-1/16" wide by 3/16" thick ( 44mm x 29mm x 5mm).
**Only one model has been made, unique creation, what you see in the photo is what you will receive. Color will vary in intensity from PC monitor to smartphone screen.**
THE CHECTA ROCK ART PETROGLYPHS IN PERU
The word Checta means 'broken rock or cracked firewood' in Quechua, an ancient language still spoken in some parts of the highlands of Peru. The Checta Petroglyphs, discovered in 1925 by the priest Pedro Villar Cordova, is composed of almost 100 rocks, depicting approximately 450 carved images which resemble humans, animals, plants, celestial bodies and other drawings with abstract characters of difficult identification. Most of the petroglyphs face north and northwest.
They are scattered in an archaeological area of about 8000 square meters in Querena Hill.
