This Fabric Crib Rail Guard Tutorial is an original design created by me. It is a simple pattern that even a beginner sewer could complete. There are three basic ways to secure the guard to your crib rail: buttons, ribbon ties, and Velcro. I focus on buttons in this tutorial, since it is the most complicated. I have included notes for how to use ribbon ties or Velcro instead.
Once all of your materials are gathered, this project should take about three hours to complete for one full length guard. Depending on the size of the rail that you are covering, it may take more or less time.
This 10 page tutorial is a PDF file with step by step instructions and includes 38 color photos with 18 steps. This tutorial also has a simple formula to help you customize a design specifically for your crib rail. This design is intended for rails of uniform width.
The best part about this project is that you will be able to match the fabric to the bedding in your child's nursery. And, if you want to cover multiple rails, it will be very affordable to do so.
I have included a couple of photos from the tutorial in this listing.
