There have been a lot of good suggestions posted today for everyone to work on. And I know some of you are behind in implementing the changes. So today we are going to continue working on those select product pages and your store descriptions, and keep polishing them. Just focus on your own store today and keep working on your own "to-do" list.

One thing most could try to improve is to try to add more copy to product pages. More copy = more chances of being found by search engines. Think of holidays and special occasions, best ways to wear your jewelry, intended audience (great for little girl) or special properties of your product that you haven't mentioned yet.

At the end of the day, please publish your list of products + your store URL with refreshed Keywords (if you changed them based on yesterday's recommendations). All your Titles and Descriptions should be optimized for those Keywords. I'll review everyone's pages after, but I expect there will be virtually no chances at that time.

We are switching gear next week and going to focus on completely different activities - link building, social media and promotions.
So today is your last chance to ask questions related to page optimization!

Bravo Kat - what an improvement in your descriptions from Day 1!  You SHOULD be proud!    By the way I love the banner for your second store and having Kat in both names is very clever.

Thanks to everyone's efforts, since the last update list, I have:

  • fixed spelling errors
  • changed shop header to align with new keyword choice of "hand made greeting cards"
  • listed a new birthday card using keyword knowledge and new photo box and new props!
  • updated some other photos

I used the "phrase search" in google keywords for the volumes below.  "Broad" search has higher figures.

Listing 1:
https://icraftgifts.com/handmade/24570/christmas-angel-card-blonde-on-red.phpchristmas-angel-card-blonde-on-red.php
primary: Christmas Angel Card: competition is medium with 58 searches and 52,400 hits in google search
NEW! secondary: angel card: competiton is low, 90,500 searches and 798,000 hits

Listing 2:
https://icraftgifts.com/handmade/20179/handmade-love-card-paper-quilled.phphandmade-love-card-paper-quilled.php
primary: love handmade card: competition has no rank with 12 searches and 59,300 hits
secondary: quilled card: competition is low with 140 searches and 27,300 hits
-- also added more categories to this one like: blank cards, for wife (not just any woman), etc.

Listing 3:
https://icraftgifts.com/handmade/32025/masculine-birthday-card-for-boy-hand-stamped-monster.phpmasculine-birthday-card-for-boy-hand-stamped-monster.php
primary: masculine birthday card: competition is medium with 140 searches and 161,000 hits
secondary: handmade birthday card: competition is medium with 3,600 searches and 186,000 hits

admin,  I have a question,  my cha cha bracelets only have a ranking if I only use cha cha bracelet.   White cha cha bracelet, beaded cha cha bracelet have no ranking.   So all my cha cha listings I can only use cha cha bracelet otherwise I have no hits?............Kat  hope you understand

Hi Kat,

No, you shouldn't use same Keywords for optimizing other pages. Each page should have a unique Title!

Just try to find other related Keywords that have some search volumes. If you can't, use "White cha cha bracelet" (even if it has no search volumes) on other similar product page. Those are still nice descriptive words that are useful to users. Those pages might not bring in much traffic, but at least, they could appeal to people, because your Product Titles are descriptive.

Generally, its not possible to optimize every single page on the site. That's why we focus just on Key Pages. You will then have to monitor how whose pages perform over time, so don't spread yourself too thin trying to optimize every page.

Ok, here we go, I made a few changes!

https://icraftgifts.com/handmade/34653/silver-quartz-pendant-sterling-and-teardrop-blue-chalcedony.php
switched "blue pendant" for "teardrop necklace" because the count was lower, does that make sense?
quartz pendant (5400 medium)
teardrop necklace (5400, low)

https://icraftgifts.com/handmade/34526/rabbit-necklace-in-sterling-silver-with-a-polished-finish.php
I'm not sure if I'm doing this is ok, I've got my main keyword in my secondary keyword. I thought I'd save the more generic keywords suggested suggested for more generic pieces I'll have soon - they'll come in handy! I've decided to keep the "rabbit" since it describes the product, any thoughts? this kind of relates to Kat's question about her "cha cha bracelet" and her "white cha cha bracelet":
rabbit necklace (1600, low)
silver rabbit necklace (140, medium)

https://icraftgifts.com/handmade/34476/red-and-silver-earrings-sterling-silver-and-chunky-red-beads.php
I kept "red earrings" because it best describes the product, despite the large search (14800, medium)
chunky earrings (1000, medium)

I have a couple of questions regarding keywords. Should I have my secondary in my title too, even if it means repeating part of my primary (for example, rabbit necklace and rabbit jewellery - I didn't use this but just so you know what I mean). Also, should we limit keywords so that they don't repeat too much in the tags (like blue pendant, quartz pendant, teardrop pendant, silver pendant, etc. - is this bad?).

Hi Kat,

You are good to go! I've added search volumes beside your primary keywords, just so we know how good they are.

JaJeJems,

"drilled seaglass" is not a good term for your second product because you sell a Necklace and not a Seaglass.
It has to have a word Necklace in your Primary Keywords.
I'd choose "Seaglass Bracelet" with 480 searches instead.

Other pages don't matter right now. You might have to spend more time finding good Keywords for them later. We just need to have this page optimized for decent Keywords.

The rest is good.

Fairy Cardmaker,

Your second listing is actually optimized for "handmade love card" - Low, 1,600 [Broad]. And it looks like you can use love and handmade in that phrase in any order - same search results.

Anyway, you are good to go!

Red Rock Designs,

You need to include your Primary Keywords in your product copy #1 for Chain maille bracelet. And I'd move down the name of the store and chainmaille jewelry.

Don't use "chunky bead necklace" in the first sentence for "Floating bead necklace" #2. Those are the Keywords that should be used for 2 different products. Your secondary keywords have to be close to your Primary. So try to incorporate "Floating bead necklace"or  "bead necklace" in the first sentence.

Silver Workshop,

Your first product is actually optimized for "blue quartz pendant" with 140 (broad) searches. I'd use it as a secondary term (as well as "quartz pendant") and optimize this page for "Silver Quartz Pendant" with 390 searches.

Your second product is optimized for "silver rabbit necklace" (140, medium). That's your primary keyword. Not many searches, but it's still ok.

Your last product is optimized for "Chunky Red Earrings" with 0 searches.
So maybe try "Red Bead Earrings" with 110 searches or "Red and silver earrings" with 480 searches.

You didn't mention the Keywords you chose for your store, so I couldn't comment on them.

To answer your question - no, you don't have to repeat secondary words in title, if they sound too repetitive. We usually use secondary words in page copy, so we wouldn't have to repeat Primary too many times. However, you can add related words in the Title that describe your product really well.

To answer your second question, put in Tags field only Keywords that closely relate to your product. There are no hard rules on this. Just common sense.

Hi Delightful Suds,

I've been waiting for your report. How are you doing with your "to-do" list?
Can you pls post your URLs in this post over the weekend? Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'm understanding how this works a little better.

Silver Quartz Pendant - took your suggestion and optimized it for those keywords, secondary are "blue chalcedony" for 3600. It means I might get people looking for just gemstones but I figure I'd try it.
https://icraftgifts.com/handmade/34653/silver-quartz-pendant-sterling-and-teardrop-blue-chalcedony.php

Rabbit Necklace - I changed it back to rabbit necklace since the searches were a bit higher at 1600. Secondary are "silver rabbit necklace"
https://icraftgifts.com/handmade/34526/rabbit-necklace-in-sterling-silver-with-a-polished-finish.php

Red and Silver Earrings -https://icraftgifts.com/handmade/34476/red-and-silver-earrings-sterling-silver-and-chunky-red-beads.php took your suggestion again and changed the primary keywords to red and silver earrings, secondary are chunky earrings at 1000 searches.

My store is optimized for "Handmade Silver Jewellery" https://icraftgifts.com/silver-workshop . It's got high competition with 9900 searches but it's what I make. I mention the keywords once in my write-up. Is that enough?

Thanks admin for the help with the drilled seaglass vs seaglass bracelet.  Will fix that this morning!

Fairy C - your new card picture looks great and the props definitely suit the card.  I really like the look of the cards on an angle!

Thanks for making the changes everyone! You all look better and better every day, even unrecognizable from day 1.   Cool
Kat went through the biggest transformation with 2 shops now, new banners and a lot of new (better) images. Maybe we should've called this program Extreme Makeover, instead of Bootcamp? Ha ha  Tongue

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Get some well deserved rest now. Great job this week!  Grin

Silver Workshop,

Just noticed that you have a few Collections that repeat Product Categories.
It's too repetitive and sometimes confusing. You list 13 Necklaces under Collections and only 10 under Product Categories. Collections were meant to be used for grouping products by other product characteristics that are not reflected in Product Categories.

How about "Fruit Jewelry" and "Animal Jewelry" or something like that, as you have products that will fit into both and those Categories would be a lot more unique, than just "Necklaces"?
