Handmade one of a kind collectible cloth dolls

Handmade one of a kind collectible cloth dolls

Handmade Store: Camas Prairie Collectibles

I have been creating one of a kind collectible dolls for over forty years. No two of my dolls are ever the same. Each doll is 28 to 30 inches tall with jointed arms that move. Hand painted faces contribute to my interpretation of the many ethnic backgrounds suggested by my dolls.
Unique handmade garments of natural fibers inhance the originality of these dolls. Many unusual, collectible or vintage buttons and trims are also part of their costumes.. These dolls are my vision and design and have been created from original patterns I have put together over 30 years time. As a decorator item or collectible these unique characters will be at home in any display or as fine addition to your home.

Those dolls representing a native american background feature Navaho inspired calico or plaid blouses with underarm gussets and collectible buttons paired with a tiered skirt and wool felt fringed "mocassins". Her long black hair blows in the wind as she runs across the open prairie in pursuit of her dreams. She will be the perfect compliment to your southwestern interior.
Frida is my latest addition to a growing number of ethnic inspired dolls I have created. Frida features a long red silk dupioni Skirt to flatter her handwoven quatemalan blouse trimmed in the same red silk. Her long dark hair is pulled back and tied with silk organza ribbon. She wears wool felt short boots and her painted face features the trade mark eyebrows of Frida. Like all things related to Frida and Diego she is sure to become a true collectors item. If you collect all things Frida you must have this handmade doll to complete your collection.
My Raggedy Annie doll is a more modern version and my personal interpretation of the traditional doll. She features long bloomers in white and a wrap around apron with ties at the middle waist in the back. Her dress is blue with small floral or dot print and closes at the back with vintage or collectible usually mother of pearl buttons. Many times the buttons do not match one another contributing to the general feel of the original "rag doll" first created nearly a century ago using left over or found items. However all materials I use(save the buttons) are new 100 percent natural fibers. I try to give the feel of the original look of the Raggedy Ann, right down to her red and white stripe stockings and outrageous orange or rust hair.
Raggedy Annie would feel at home in your shop or home as a decorating accent.
Each doll comes with her own unigue hangtag that will most likely become a true collectors item.
